the school district is closed, but you still need child care!

Child care, for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade, is offered for most of the days the South Orange / Maplewood School District is closed throughout school year.   The program is held at the South Mountain YMCA, utilizing the Y Gym, Y Field and program center.

Friday, April 2nd, & the following week of April 5th - 9th (6 days total)

The days will include games, sports, field trips, art & crafts and a variety of other activities scheduled throughout the week.

FRIDAY, APRIL 2nd:   Gymnastics Day
Everyone will get a work out with a gymnastics class at the YMCA.  Children will learn about the history of gymnastics and be able to participate on the events including:  the uneven bars, balance beam, the vault, and the floor (tumbling). 

MONDAY, APRIL 5th:  NJ Snake Man
This is a great way to get up close and personal with the different types of snakes in New Jersey.  This educational program will be at 10:30 am.  The children will be learning about other reptiles throughout the day.

TUESDSAY, APRIL 6th:  Bowling at Eagle Rock Lanes
The bus will leave the YMCA at 12:00 and return at 3:00.  Each child will enjoy two games of bowling.  Lunch will be eaten at the YMCA before the trip.  No spending money is allowed for this trip.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 7th:  YMCA Sock Hop
We will be movin’ and groovin’ to the sounds of the 50’s and the 60’s.  We will flip some burgers for lunch and have some shakes as well.  We will round out the day with a dance party rockin’ out to Elvis and the Beetles.

THURSDAY, APRIL 8th:  Mad Science
Mad Science of Bergen County is coming out to the YMCA at 9:00 to do a Fire and Ice Show with the kids.  This interactive program will teach the children a lot of cool experiment.  Don’t be late to this incredible show.

FRIDAY, APRIL 9th:  The Funplex
The bus will leave at 10:00am and return at 2:00pm.  The children will have unlimited bumper car, foam frenzy and will receive 20 game tokens.  Every child should bring a lunch on the trip in a labeled brown paper bag.  Extra spending money is allowed for this trip.
 

A bag lunch is required each day, but we will supply a snack in the afternoon.
                                              Space is limited to the first 50 registrations.

Hours: 7:15am - 7:00pm 

Fees: Members -         $70 per day per child
            Non-members - $85 per day per child

Early Bird fee of $60 per day for members
if registration is submitted by March 15th
