Click HERE for our Volunteer application. As a community organization, the Y simply could not function the way it does without its' volunteers. One can volunteer in many aspects of our YMCA operation. Most of our Volunteer opportunities are event based. Examples of just some of our most popular and fun events are our Family Olympics held each Fall where we are promoting our efforts to get the entire family to be active together!; each winter we celebrate our community's diversity with a World Festival complete with foods and dance productions from around the World; and each Spring we celebrate National Healthy Kids Day. Each year we assemble a committee of volunteers who work with us on our Annual Stong Kids Campaign where we raise funds from within our community for our community. Volunteers work in our office, assist with coaching in a variety of sports and enrichment programs and much more! You can stop in the office and fill out a short form to let us know your point of interest, and your availability. We will then couple up the appropriate people to do what they do best. Volunteering is rewarding and very important to keep the community together as a whole.
Teens- Board of Managers consist of up to 25 members of the community who lend their knowledge, skill, time and resources to the Y. They set the policy of the South Mountain YMCA and the Y you see today is because of all of the hard work they and many other volunteers have put in. The Board of Managers is broken down into several acting committees including: Finance, Building and Property, Development, Marketing, Program, Nominating and Executive. If you are interested in being on our Board of Managers, please contact Marcia Meehan at (973) 762-4145 x 114.
